Safety requirements
Because of the heating process that plastic lenses undergo to remove water vapor, the plastic material may become more brittle than it was when the manufacturer batch tested it for impact resistance.
If you have a plastic lens AR coated the manufacturer’s safety batch testing is invalidated.
If you use stock AR coated lenses the impact resistance issue is once again the responsibility of the manufacturer.
