Welcome to the National Federation of Opticianry Schools web site. The National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS) is the national organization dedicated to the promotion of formal opticianry education offered by accredited educational institutions. Formal education is fundamental to the credibility of the Optician as a vision care professional.

The NFOS is a nonprofit organization whose members represent formal Opticianry education in the United States and Canada. One of cornerstone ideals of the NFOS is the sharing of knowledge, to that end we have developed this website for the dissemination of information for the optical community.

ABO/NCLE  Education Conference

September 18-21, 2008

This inaugural conference offers training and education to improve an optician's technical, professional, managerial and personal performance. Plan to attend this exciting event!

NFOS Alumni Reunion
The event is scheduled for:
Saturday, Sept 20, 2008
7:00 - 9:00 pm
 
Tables will be set-up with school names to make it easy to find friends. We'll provide appetizers and some drink tickets for those who register in advance and a cash bar.

2008 College Bowl Completed

 

The 2008 NFOS/Essilor college Bowl was held on Friday April 11, 2008 in the EyeMax Theather during Vision Expo East at the Jacob Javitis Center in New York City.

NFOS member school sent students to compete in a jeaordy style game that tests their optical knowledge.  Priminlary rounds were held on Thrusday night and the finals were held on Friday at noon during as free one hour CE during Vision Expo.

Contestants for this years college bowl included:

Paul Mason – Tri Service Opticians School

Tara Esola – Camden County College

Victoria M. Arellano – Essex County College

Timothy Ho – Erie Community College

Nancy Jarin – Roane State
